With the start of the second go of the National Cutting Horse Association (NCHA) Summer Spectacular’s Classic/Challenge, the battle lines between the progeny of High Brow Cat and his son, Metallic Cat, have been drawn.
More than a third of the second go-round field is made up of foals from the two stallions, which lead the sires with total foals moving to the second go. Of the 23 originally entered in the Classic/Challenge, 17 sired by High Brow Cat have advanced to the second go while 18 of the 25 sired by Metallic Cat have advanced.
Leading the field of High Brow Cat’s is Lil Jackson Cat, who scored a 223 with Lloyd Cox at the reins for owners Thomas and Natalie Humphreville. Close behind is Eazee E who scored a 220 under the hand for trainer Tatum Rice for owners Kevin and Sydney Knight and, with a score of 219.5, is Cat N Corn, shown by Phil Rapp and owned by Lori and Bobby Gale.
