Cats That Cowhorse

Cats That Cowhorse

It’s no secret that horses sired by High Brow Cat top the list when it comes to cutters, and recently, they’ve been climbing the ranks as cow horses in the NRCHA events, too.

Cat’s most recent accolade in the reined cow horse pen came with the sale of Heres The Cat. This mare, sired by High Brow Cat and out of one of our broodmare, Mate Stays Here, was purchased by the Moncriefs under the guidance of Boyd Rice. Boyd recently competed on her at the 2018 NRCHA Snaffle Bit Futurity where they marked a 219.5 down the fence and made the Intermediate Open finals!  This mare was started by our 2-year-old trainer, Tyson Benson, who immediately picked up on her potential as a cow horse.

Tyson finished in the top 10 in the Open on her at the SWRCHA Rode to Reno Futurity. Tyson’s excellent start on her landed her in the hands of one of the greatest horsemen out there, and we are super excited to see how the rest of her career pans out!

Another High Brow Cat to watch for in upcoming NRCHA events is RN Highbrow Lena, in training with Mark Luis. Mark said “Romeo,” as they call him, started as one of the best 2-year-olds he’d ever ridden. These two were the Open Futurity Reserve Champions at the Southwest Reined Cow Horse Association Summer Spectacular this year.

Billies Blaze, a gorgeous colt that was bred by Colt Ventures and purchased by the Pitchfork Ranch as a 2-year-old is being shown by Matt Koch. The two have earned money in Colorado cow horse events and have a bright future heading into this horse’s 4-year-old year.
